A prominent educator and a husband and wife from the Northern Beaches are among Sydney Anglicans honoured in the King’s Birthday Honours list.

Michele Marquet has been honoured with a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM)  for service to primary education.

Mrs Marquet has led Cranbrook’s Junior School since 2017 and recently served as acting Head of School.

Her teaching career included posts at Meriden and at St Peter's Anglican Primary School.

Mrs Marquet has been a long-time member of St Matthias, Centennial Park.

Northern Beaches couple Dr Timothy Harpur and his wife Josephine were both awarded individual OAMs for their respective services to the local community.

Dr Harpur, a GP and Obstetrician/ Gynaecologist in Dee Why since 1975 was also a foster respite carer for Anglicare, parish council member and warden of St Faith’s Narrabeen.

Mrs Harpur has given significant service to the community and St Faith’s, as a coordinator of Special Religious Education at four local schools for more than 20 years, as well as being an SRE teacher for over 40 years.

Her other service includes Anglican foster carer respite, P and C Association positions, ESL teaching and counselling.

Robin Cummins was awarded an OAM for service to veterans, and to the community.

He has given extensive service to the Epping sub-branch of the Returned and Services League of Australia. 

Alongside his volunteer work, the veteran accountant advised Charles Sturt University, Western Sydney University, and UTS on the development of their business courses.

Mr Cummins also held several volunteer positions with St Alban’s Anglican Church at Epping.
