Those involved in teaching know that lessons are usually better remembered when images accompany the verbal delivery of information.
For this reason many involved in children's ministry have used a variety of visual aids over the years to enhance their lessons.
CEP have produced Visual Aid CD's for the Old and New Testaments, with images provided in JPEG format, for use by those in children's ministry today.
The size of the files, averaging 1MB each, means when printed the images retain excellent quality.
The CD's contain three types of clipart:
Biblical scenes " these pictures are generally simple and provide a good basic image of the "action" in the applicable bible verses. The files that use photographs are more eye-catching than the drawn images.
Bible characters " these pictures do not provide the children with any extra insight into the lesson, but could perhaps be used more effectively if pasted onto another prepared image. However after a few uses the characters start to look the same to young, undiscerning eyes.
Maps " these are well presented and a useful teaching tool.
There is religious clipart available on the internet, but much of it is either "traditional" art or images sketched in black and white.
These CD's provide a quality alternative aimed especially at young children.
Given the simple nature of the images a target audience of students aged 3-10 years would be appropriate.
But we should remember not to rely on this type of "prop' when delivering lessons, which can be distracting for some children who are so busy looking they forget to listen.
Lessons should always be focused on God's words in the Bible.
When well read and presented, it is always the most effective way of delivering His lesson.
