A series of regional prayer days is being organised for September, with Anglicans from across Sydney being urged to make prayer a priority.

Mother's Union is responsible for organising the prayer days each year, with bishops convening the meetings in each region.

Archbishop Jensen, writing in the August edition of the Diocesan newspaper, Southern Cross, said "If we believe that we are relying on the Lord for his blessing, we will make attendance a priority at these gatherings. What better thing can we be doing than meeting with others for the express purpose of praying for the community in which we live?"

The prayer days begin with the Georges River region at St Luke's, Liverpool on 1st September, followed by the Wollongong region at St Mark's, West Wollongong on the 6th and the Western region at the Cathedral at Parramatta on 12th September.

For the Northern Region, St Paul's Chatswood is the venue on the 23rd September, and on the same day, the South Sydney region meets at St Phillip's, York St.

The prayer meetings will start at either 9.30 am or 10 am depending on the venue, and last for 3 hours.

Dr Jensen said the inspiration of 'Connect' prayer is still alive.

"That is, we do not simply pray for ourselves, or even for our workers, evangelists and missionaries. We pray for our communities, for the families and individuals and institutions and opinion-leaders in our communities who need to hear the gospel of the Lord Jesus."
