St Andrew’s Cathedral will be open from 9am until 9pm on New Year’s Eve. On a day which is traditionally reserved for celebration and parties, the Dean of Sydney, Phillip Jensen will open the Cathedral for special prayers for the victims and countries affected by the recent earthquake disaster.

Clergy from the Cathedral will be available to give support and offer prayers throughout the day.

Many tens of thousands of people have been killed and millions left homeless by the tsunamis generated by the earthquake.

There will be brief services of prayer held at 12noon, 1.00pm and every hour from 4.00pm until 8.00pm. All are welcome to attend.

Visitors to the Cathedral are also able to make a donation to the Overseas Relief and Aid Tsunami appeal.
