Hey there! It’s to be said that there really is no business like snow business! To think that this season I have the opportunity to combine my love of Jesus and my love of skiing and boarding is totally awesome. Having said that, there are elements of the snow business which are difficult but on the whole this truly is a dream job.
As I write this article, it is continuing to snow outside the window up on the hills of Perisher. The white stuff has been falling for a good couple of hours now, so your prayers must be working! With any luck the snow will continue and the dreaded rain will stay well away to ensure maximum coverage.
The Perisher Alpine Chapel has had a great week with a big turn out on Sunday for the 12:30pm service. Don't forget that if you are heading to the snow for the weekend we would love to have you drop in. Bring your lunch, help yourself to a cuppa and join in the laid-back service in the snow. It's short and sharp to enable those itching to get back out on the runs maximum skiing time.
This week we are also starting another mid-week gathering in the Chapel on Wednesday's at 1:30pm. Again if you find yourself up this way" we would love to have you drop in.
The last couple of weeks has seen the return of the famous "Cookie Run'. This is a key way to get word out to the workers on the mountain of what is on offer at the Chapel. It’s also a great way of getting to know those working in the resort.
As I mentioned earlier, there are some elements of the job that are tricky. There is such a culture of partying, drugs, and sleeping around and the temptations for young Christians coming down to work are strong. The midweek Bible Study in town has been assisting in proving an alternative. Your prayers would be appreciated in getting the word out and knowing when and where to be available.
Thanks for your prayers and support and please drop by if you are down this way.
God Bless
