This week has been nothing short of bliss in the mountains. Beautiful sunshine, crisp snow, some fresh dustings of natural stuff and some more man made powder to top it off. With around 44 lifts in operation, along with a huge amount of terrain to explore, the days have been nothing short of a blessing.
The past two weeks have brought crowds a plenty to the ski field and it certainly has been busy out there. The weekend just gone was the annual "WILD WINTER WEEKEND'. There was the "dash4cash', as well as the ever popular "jump4cash' which sees several people with questionable brain sense ski off a jump into a freezing cold pool of water in an attempt to win $2000. Quite insane, but rather hilarious for the on-lookers.
The weekend also brought with it the partying which is a large part of the culture of Jindabyne and Perisher. Whilst this is generally quite rowdy, there have not been too many complaints which is a blessing. This week looks set for another big one with several cross-country events running, not to mention the forecast of more snow.
On the chapel front, things are going well. We had some visitors from Sydney, Cooma and Canberra this week which really added to the community. We are exploring the connection between worship and lifestyle which is really pertinent down here given the winter culture. A midweek study for ladies has also started up in the chapel on Wednesday lunchtime with the help of some local mum's. Your prayers for this group would be appreciated as it can often be lonely for ladies working in the lodges and on the mountains.
If you are in the area, we would love you to drop in" but from wherever you are we value and thank you for your prayers.
