About the Role 

Reporting to our CEO, you will be a key strategic leader, ensuring Anglicare’s legal, risk, and governance frameworks support its vision, mission and Christian values. This role provides trusted legal counsel to the Board, CEO, and Executive Team, overseeing corporate and clinical governance, enterprise risk management, and compliance.  

With deep expertise in legal strategy, risk management, and corporate governance, you will lead a team to safeguard Anglicare’s reputation, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience. Your role will be integral in helping Anglicare navigate a complex regulatory landscape while maintaining a steadfast commitment to Christ-centred care and service. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Strategic Legal Leadership: Proactive legal advice to the Board, CEO, and Executive Team. 
  • Enterprise Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management frameworks. 
  • Governance & Compliance Oversight: Maintain sound corporate governance structures ensuring the highest standards of clinical care and compliance  
  • Crisis & Risk Management: Lead crisis response strategies, oversee insurance programs, and ensure risk mitigation initiatives are effectively implemented. 
  • Leadership & Team Development: Inspire and mentor your team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. 
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with internal teams, regulators, and external advisors to drive legal and risk strategy. 

About You 

You are an experienced legal and risk executive with a deep commitment to ethical leadership, and a proven ability to guide governance, risk, and compliance in complex regulatory environments. You are a humble and service-oriented leader with values aligned to the mission and purpose of Anglicare. 

  • Strategic & Commercial Acumen: Ability to balance legal risk with business and mission objectives, enabling sustainable growth while maintaining compliance. 
  • Regulatory & Risk Expertise: Deep knowledge of Aged Care Act, WHS Act, Charities Act, Retirement Villages Act, and experience with regulatory bodies (ACQSC, ACCC, ASIC, ACN 
  • Executive Influence & Advisory: Experience advising Boards, CEOs, and senior leaders on governance, compliance and legal strategy. 
  • Ethical & Values-Driven Decision-Making: Ability to apply Christian ethics to legal, risk, and governance matters, ensuring integrity and compliance across the organisation.  

Qualifications & Experience  

  • Tertiary qualification in Law and a current unrestricted NSW practising certificate. 
  • Demonstrated success as a General Counsel or senior legal executive in a corporate or not-for-profit environment. 
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and enterprise risk management. 
  • Experience in dispute resolution, mergers and acquisitions, construction, banking & finance, or commercial law. 
  • Ability to engage with regulators and stakeholders, providing legal and strategic oversight. 
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing high-performing legal and risk teams.
