We are seeking a gospel-hearted person to join our ministry team. The position is available when the successful candidate becomes available. Church Hill seeks to ‘fill the City with Christ’s Gospel’ from our two centres: St Philip’s (York Street in the City) and Holy Trinity (the Garrison Church in Miller’s Point).
Our prayer is to find someone who will bring passion and energy to the children’s ministry of Church Hill by nurturing a team of volunteers. (We could add youth ministry for the right person). We hope, under God, to see children and young people follow Jesus, as well as fostering a culture of deeper discipleship and training amongst all who are involved in the ministry.
ROLE SUMMARY
To assist Church Hill in achieving its mission of working towards filling the city with Christ’s teaching by coordinating and leading a Gospel-focused children’s ministry. The Childrens’ Minister would work closely with, and report directly to the Rector.
LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY
This role represents an important leadership position at Church Hill and will report to the Rector.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To lead, plan, coordinate, execute and manage weekly Kids’ Church and Youth program on Sundays 10:30am: 3 age groups (Toddler-Preschool; K- Year 5, Year 6 and Up)
- To lead and manage Creche/Toddler group at the 4pm Service
- To develop the teaching curriculum
- To ensure all children’s ministry programs and leaders comply with safe ministry requirements
- To recruit, train, mentor and mobilise all children’s ministry leaders (includes management of roster for all children’s ministry programs)
- Liaise with and work closely with the youth ministry team (with possible oversight)
- To plan and coordinate In-house children’s ministry leader’s training
- To develop Junior Leadership Program
- To liaise with parents/guardians regarding all children’s ministry matters
- To plan programmes/pack/activities whilst children stay in the service during the NSW School holidays and involving the children in these services
- To assist in the planning, coordinating and execution of Christmas Eve Kids’ Carols Service
- To assist in the planning, coordinating and execution of Rivendell (annual whole-church weekend away) Kids’ Programme
- To co-ordinate and teach one SRE class at Fort Street Primary (weekly)
- To look for new opportunities to reach the city with the Gospel.
The role would require working on some set days as follows:
- All day Sunday – 10:30am Church Hill Kids and Youth; 4pm Church Hill Kids
- Tuesday Morning – Staff Meeting
- Friday morning - SRE (Special Religious Education at Fort Street Public School)
- Possibility of an after school kids’ club
EXPECTATIONS OF THE CANDIDATE
- A sense of call and a passion for working with children and team members
- Experience in Children’s Ministry
- A current and verified Working with Children Check and up to date Safe Ministry Training
- To complete a police check
- Theological qualifications or presently enrolled in a course of study is preferable
- A healthy EQ

In recognition of the candidate’s role in the ministry of the church, Church Hill will remunerate the position in line with the Anglican Church of Sydney’s guidelines for stipend and allowances of an Assistant Minister.
