The Bishop of South Sydney, Rob Forsyth is thanking well-wishers on his return to work after experiencing a heart attack two weeks ago.
"I am back and feeling much better. I've had two stents put into my heart and realise that it was a very close shave when I had my heart attack on Norfolk Island," he says.
"I'm particularly thankful to the many many people who have expressed love and concern and supported me in their prayers and best wishes."
Bishop Forsyth had been visiting the island " which is part of his region of the Diocese of Sydney " when he felt faint while out on a walk.
He was taken to hospital after the island's ambulance officer, who providentially happened to be passing by, asked him if he was alright.
Bishop Forsyth returned with his wife Margaret to the mainland a week ago.
"It is quite overwhelming and I am thankful to God for this reminder of the love and care of His people. I'm also very pleased to have the chance to live life with thankfulness for every day and to continue to serve Him in this important ministry," he reflects.
"I'm also of course taking steps to make sure that I do not let my life be put at such risk again, God willing."
