Kids' favourite Colin Buchanan shared the Christmas message with hundreds of kids in his own unique way at St Andrew's Cathedral today.
Over 800 people were present at the two concerts as Colin donned elf and caveman costumes as he shared the true meaning of Christmas.
"The real good news at Christmas is that Jesus Christ was born, that God became a man and that was his way of identifying with us in every way and becoming our saviour," Colin says.
Colin performed all the crowd favourites like "Jesus Rocks the World', "10, 9, 8" ' and "Who's the King of the Jungle?' as well as his Christmas classics like "On That Very First Christmas' and "Aussie Jingle Bells'.
The Dean of the Cathedral Phillip Jensen who was present with his grandchildren at the concert says St Andrew's Cathedral is the perfect place for Christmas concerts that reach out to youth and children.
"Colin's music is loved by Christian people throughout the Diocese and the world and he has reinvigorated teaching children the scriptures with his music," Dean Jensen says.
"I'm hard pressed to think of a better use of a Cathedral building than to gather people from all over the diocese to hear the scriptures being taught by this master educator."
David Barnard who attends St Marks, Malabar came to the concert with his wife and their three-year-old and six-month-old children.
"It's great hearing the message of God's word in such an entertaining way. The kids are captured by what they see and are getting God's word into them without realising it," he says.
After three years of performing at the Cathedral, Colin has no intention of stopping anytime soon.
"As Christmas comes around each year I hope this is becomes a tradition for some people," he says.
"It's bold of the Cathedral to push the pews aside and put on a rowdy children's show and it's exciting seeing Christians using the building for this kind of ministry.
Dean Jensen hopes Colin will continue performing his Christmas concerts at St Andrew's for years to come.
"We want to continue holding this concert here each year as it's becoming one of those annual meeting places for young Christian families," he says.
