The Archbishop of Sydney, Dr Peter Jensen, spent Easter moving the Mountains closer to God.
Well over 1,000 residents of the Blue Mountains heard Dr Jensen preach at 6 packed church services at Christ Church, Springwood, St George's, Winmalee, and the Springwood Ministry Centre.
The evangelistic talks on Good Friday were titled "the Death of Death' and the theme for Easter Sunday was "Dead Man Walking'.
The evangelistic services were a highlight of the parish of Springwood's month-long outreach called the "Real Life Mission', which also features guest services, a men's breakfast, and a fashion parade.
"The challenge on members is to prayer for and invite three friends to hear Dr Jensen," the Rev Graham Crew, rector of Springwood, told Sydneyanglicans.net in Easter week.
"God willing, if that happens the mission will be a success."
Church members letter-boxed dropped some 8,500 households in Springwood, Valley Heights, Winmalee, Faulconbridge and Linden.
The Archbishop's high profile also grabbed the attention of local newspaper The Blue Mountains Gazette, which profiled the mission.
The mission was launched on Palm Sunday with two special church services dubbed "Rescue Sunday'.
"Every year we invite the local emergency services, including the SES, rural fire service, and ambos along with local school children and their families. We give thanks to God for our emergency service workers, and give them certificates of appreciation," said Mr Crew.
In all, over 500 people attended across the morning and afternoon services.
Mr Crew estimated that about 250 of these people had no association with any church.
