St Andrew's Cathedral will play host to the 2008 Sydney Spring Convention this Saturday.
Connecting Evangelism and Ministry is this year's theme and two world-class Bible teachers will speak at the afternoon convention.
Visiting theologian Dr Don Carson, who spoke at this year's Engage Conference and Ministry Training and Development Ministry Intensive, and Dean of Sydney Phillip Jensen, will each give a talk at the convention.
Dr Carson will speak on "Proclaiming the Unknown God' and Dean Jensen will speak on "Connecting Sydney'.
According to St Andrew's senior minister, the Rev Chris Moroney, Spring Convention is designed for the many Christians in churches who are eager to be further equipped and nurtured so that they may expand themselves in ministry.
"You might be a valued member of a team or leading a team doing ministry in your church " the Spring Convention will help you help your church reach out to connect with its community and how to help the community connect to Jesus Christ," he says.
"We want to encourage people from all churches to be active in evangelism."
Mr Moroney says the Spring Convention is continuing the tradition that has been established at St Andrew's, which is to offer convention-style teaching in the heart of Sydney.
"The cathedral is aiming to provide good teaching from various people which Christians can then take back to their churches, Bible studies and youth groups," he says.
Dean Jensen's personal assistant Wendy Swanton says Spring Convention is the perfect lead-in as the Diocese prepares for Connect09.
"With a wonderful guest like Dr Carson in Sydney we can benefit from his teaching on how to do evangelism," she says.
"He will give examples on how to connect as we focus on reaching out to those around us with the gospel."
Spring Convention runs from 1:30pm to 5pm on September 6 and includes afternoon tea. The cost ranges from $5 to $20. Click here to register.
