A pinnacle of North West Australia retires

A former Latin teacher from Bulli near Wollongong retired recently as Bishop of North West Australia. Bishop Anthony Nichols, also at different times in his life a missionary in Indonesia, a tutor at Moore College and the Principal of a college to train Aboriginal ordinands in Darwin, acknowledges that his appointment, nearly 12 years ago, was ‘fairly unusual'.

Archbishop Writes: Raising up messengers of the gospel

Our Mission is based on the conviction that people need to be saved through the work of the Lord Jesus Christ. They will be brought to a knowledge of Jesus through the gospel as it is used by the Holy Spirit. God's appointed way of sharing the gospel is through human messengers.

CNN, Reuters, The Sydney Morning Herald and the BBC have all been knocking on the door of author and broadcaster Kel Richards to learn more about his latest work The Aussie Bible (well bits of it anyway). “I've been bowled over by it,” he says of the worldwide interest in his book, launched last month, which takes the story of Jesus' life from the New Testament and re-tells it in chronological order using the Aussie idiom.

‘Please forgive us’, say Uniting Church evangelicals

The national chairperson of the Evangelical Members within the Uniting Church (EMU) has pleaded with Sydney Anglicans for forgiveness, saying all Uniting Church members have to accept fault for the recent decision to allow the Church's presbyteries to accept and ordain practicing homosexual clergy.
