What’s Take Love? 

Take Love is Anglicare Sydney’s youth initiative, giving young people (age 12–24) practical ways to put their faith into action. Inspired by 1 John 4:19, Take Love works to see the next generation empowered to take the love of Jesus into their community by nurturing social understanding, cultivating empathy for the vulnerable, and inspiring active engagement in Anglicare’s transformative work.

About the role: 

We are seeking a highly motivated and engaging 'Take Love' Coordinator to further the development of Anglicare’s 'Take Love' youth initiative. This involves fostering existing and forging new relationships with schools, churches, youth groups, Youthworks and other Diocesan organisations. 

The successful applicant will have excellent project management skills, with an ability to deliver existing Take Love programs while generating creative and innovative ways to expand upon current 'Take Love' initiative. They will work alongside a small, dedicated team driven by a shared mission and will need to show an ability to engage in collaborative strategic thinking. 

The successful candidate will have a heart for youth and young adults on mission through the local church. Involvement in youth and young adults’ ministries, experience leading teams of young people or having worked in a school setting will be highly advantageous. A demonstrated ability to effectively network in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney will also be highly regarded. 

The role is a permanent full-time position with the flexibility of working remotely on occasion. You must be willing and able to travel throughout the Sydney Diocese. This includes travelling to churches, schools and events, as well as various Anglicare sites. From time-to-time the role may also require you to speak at or attend events outside of traditional working hours, such as a Friday night youth group or the Youthworks LIT conference. 

Key responsibilities (not limited to):  
 
Reporting to the Take Love Team Leader, you will need to be able to take initiative and have the skills to: 

  • PROMOTE the work and ministry of Anglicare’s 'Take Love' initiative to churches, schools and other potential mission partners. 
  • BROKER ongoing relationships and active partnerships between Anglicare and churches/school 
  • DELIVER existing ‘Take Love’ programs with energy and excellence. 
  • DEVELOP Anglicare’s ‘Take Love’ youth initiative, expanding on current activities and project managing new ventures. 
  • COMMUNICATE information and requests effectively between Anglicare and churches/schools; and 
  • PREPARE both Anglicare and churches/schools for new or deeper missional partnerships. 

Skills, knowledge and experience needed:  

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 
  • Demonstrated experience in working with youth and young adults. 
  • A clear understanding of youth and youth culture. 
  • Ability to manage new projects and communicate with stakeholders 
  • Ability to innovate and be creatively resourceful. 
  • Ability and commitment to support and promote the Vision, Mission and Values of Anglicare. 
  • Ability to effectively network in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney with youth ministers, school chaplains/educators, but also with other potential community partners. 
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-discipline. 
  • Ability to work independently, but also to contribute to a team environment within the designated region, and with the other team members. 
  • Well-developed computer skills (preferably in a range of MS office applications.) 
  • Preparedness to work outside standard business hours to present at churches, youth groups and at community events including occasional evenings and weekend commitments. 
  • Current driver’s licence, willingness to drive and use your own vehicle to travel.  
  • Hold a current Working With Children Check 

It is desirable that you have: 

  • Qualifications in theology, youth ministry or related discipline ideal but not required. 
  • Sound knowledge of Anglicare, including services, programs and organisational structure. 
  • An understanding of the structure and culture of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney. 
  • A background in public or Christian schools / education. 
  • Demonstrated experience in youth, church or school ministry. 
  • A willingness and ability to facilitate the administrative requirements the role as required.
