It is clear Springwood Anglican's Spirituality Day, inspired by the popularity of Mind/Body/Spirit events with the Mountains community, has tapped a raw nerve with many locals.

So much so that the beautiful banner promoting a day of massage therapy, aromatherapy, women's health and jewellery-making, was stolen from the middle of Springwood's main shopping strip.

"Someone stole the banner from the train station," says Springwood's Women's and Outreach Pastor, Vicki Brasington.

"Of all the things that go up at the railway stations, banners usually aren't the things that get stolen. Someone liked the look of it so much they stole it.

"The Mountains is so into New Age stuff. The Spirituality Day is a way of connecting with the way things are here," she says.

About 120 women attended the day with a number wanting to know more about Christ.

"Twenty women indicated they were interested in finding out more about Christianity or prayed," says Vicki.

It is the second such event that Springwood Anglican Church has run, and a third is being planned for next year.

"It is an easy event to invite friends to," says Vicki.

"Our member are now feeling very confident about the concept."

Vicki adds that the success of the event requires a team effort.

"I don't work on my own " there is an amazing group of women in our women's ministry team," she says.
