This week, Sydneys Synod has voted overwhelmingly to endorse the Jerusalem Declaration, a statement unanimously supported by those who attended GAFCON in June. At the time of GAFCON, Archbishop Peter Jensen said the declaration would 'help bring order out of chaos. Synod's declared support for the historic communiqué has come as some GAFCON churches continue to be targeted by the liberal dioceses in which they find themselves.

There was a time when 'artificial was the buzz. We loved artificial grass, artificial light, artificial sweeteners, and even artificial intelligence. In the last few years our society has been bombarded with artificial community. But, like everything artificial, there is nothing like the real thing!

Fundamentally it is no longer valid or viable to see ourselves as purely an open door, operating an 'attractional model. We need therefore to shift our thinking to become a missional church...

This week's Synod was focused on our Diocesan Mission. There is much to praise God for in the work of the last six years. But there is still a long way to go.
