The Sydney Morning Herald story on scripture classes (Wed 6/5/15) left the impression that the publication 'Teen Sex by the Book' was part of the authorised curriculum for SRE.

The author, Dr Patricia Weerakoon, is a sexual health expert and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Sydney University's Westmead Clinical School, however it is not an authorised SRE text and as was pointed out is not intended for that purpose.

The Anglican Diocese of Sydney publishes clear guidelines pertaining to SRE which are publicly available at www.youthworks.net/SRE.

I understand the NSW greens and other lobby groups choose not to send their children to SRE classes, but a very significant number of parents value faith education as part of a comprehensive education for their children and their religious freedom should be defended.
