Australia Christian youth website, fervr.net, was recognized for excellence on the internet in the international Webby Awards on April 12.

The Fervr Christian website was selected as an Official Honoree in the ‘Religion and Spirituality’ section.

The Official Honoree distinction is awarded to the top 10% of all work entered that exhibits remarkable achievement in content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity and overall experience.

The Webby Awards are presented in recognition of excellence on the internet. Almost 10,000 entries were received from around the world for consideration in 2011. Other entrants included CNN.com, Lego and the Disney Channel.

Fervr.net is owned by Youthworks Media and is ‘dedicated to growing young Christians in their knowledge of God, training them to live out their faith and share it with their friends.’

Fervr was first launched in April 2009 as an online resource partner for churches, schools, and other youth ministries. It provides users access to regularly updated bible-based articles, pop culture reviews, as well as videos and apologetics designed for young people. The website also provides a forum for young Christians to discuss relevant and topical issues.

“We never expected Fervr to be recognized on an international level,” said Kitty Fung, digital producer at Youthworks Media. “We’d love to see a greater Christian presence in the digital arts and hopefully this will inspire others to use their gifts to minister to God’s people while contributing to the creative and/or tech community.”

As Fervr seeks to grow, the aim of Youthworks Media is to develop it into the ‘go-to’ resource that engages with the popular culture whilst giving youth a gospel-centered world view.
