Sydney evangelist John Chapman will be taking to the stage this weekend to help Aussie males handle the pressure of being men at work.

Men's Katoomba Convention will be running for the next three weekends with a total audience of more than six thousand.

John Chapman is part of a team of internationally recognised speakers including Vaughan Roberts, Sam Chan and Ian Powell.

Close to two thousand men are expected to descend on the Katoomba site from 7 PM tonight to hear what the Bible has to say about work in the new millennium.

MKC is now in its ninth year and growing stronger.

Archbishop Peter Jensen says the event deserves Sydney’s full support.

“Having men come together for the study of God’s word is of enormous significance for the cause of the gospel and our mission in this part of the world,” Archbishop Jensen says.

Groups are travelling from as far afield as Broken Hill, Wee Waa, Cooma and the United Kingdom to hear John Chapman and others speak.

Cowra Pastor Austin Griffiths says the convention figures prominently on his congregation’s calendar.

“As the pastor of a rural church I really encourage our guys to make the effort to come to MKC,” he says.

“Our congregation is not very big, but when we come to Katoomba we are reminded that the church is HUGE. Its great to be a part of God’s Kingdom.”

And Katoomba Christian Conventions worker Gavin Boyd says a last minute decision to attend is no reason to miss out.

"Tickets are still available up on the site " it all kicks off at 9.00 am on the Saturday," Mr Boyd says.

John Chapman says if he wasn't speaking he'd be going anyway " men need to grasp God's view of the 9-to-5 battle.
