FEVA, an evangelistic ministry to Sydney’s visual arts students and working artists, is holding an art exhibition today at St Stephen’s, Willoughby to raise funds for their newly employed evangelist Cameron Blair.
Malcolm Williams, who heads up FEVA, says the employment of Mr Blair will help the organisation refocus on the university side of its ministry.
For the past four years Mr Williams’ energies have been directed towards planting a congregation dedicated to reaching artists.
“Cameron worked with FEVA before studying at Moore Theological College,” Mr Williams said.
“His return is part of a plan to bring renewed energy and focus to evangelising graphic designers, architects, landscape architects, interior designers and the many other fields of design that are developing in our city. FEVA has had a ministry to these people for a number of years but it has been put on hold whilst Cameron completed his studies.”
In 2001 Southern Cross featured a FEVA church plant to reach artists and designers in the Inner West.
This church was planted on the premises of All Saints Petersham with just 14 people.
Four years later it has grown into a healthy vibrant church of 60 regular members.
FEVA - The Fellowship for Evangelism in the Visual Arts - works amongst students studying art and design in colleges and universities such as the UTS Design School, the Faculty of the Built Environment UNSW, the College of Fine Arts, Paddington, the Sydney College of the Arts, Rozelle, the National Art School in Darlinghurst.
