Youthworks has launched a new site for parents of primary school children to explain the workings and benefits of special religious Education or scripture classes.

The WHYSRE site includes answers to commonly asked questions, information about SRE policies, samples of curriculum, information about who teaches SRE and what training they have, as well as useful parenting resources.

Says Youthworks CEo Zac Veron:“The recent debate over ethics classes has shown many people don’t understand why SRE is there or how it works. This site will answer their questions and show the many reasons why parents should enrol their children.”

Ethics classes are under way as an alternative to scripture in dozens of NSW schools, and the Department of Education has allowed greater access for promotion to ethics provider st James Ethics Centre than is available to SRE groups.

Mr Veron encourages Christians to share the web address with their friends and neighbours as a way of positively promoting SRE andits benefits.

The site's address is www.whysre.com.au
