Archbishop Jensen has asked for prayer for the health of Sydney Diocesan Secretariat CEO Steve McKerihan.

On Wednesday, February 10, Mr McKerihan had a car accident on his way home from work.

Tests in hospital subsequently indicated that he had a brain lesion which appears to have caused the accident.

Over the next few days a decision was made to operate and the surgery took place on Monday.

Pathology test results are expected to be received in the next week.

The Archbishop told Diocesan staff at the commencement service in St Andrew’s Cathedral that the illness had come as a shock and that the prayers and good wishes of people across the diocese were with Steve, his wife Margaret and family.

Bishop Forsyth later led in prayer at Standing Committee for his recovery from surgery.

Mark Payne, General Manager of Parish and Property Services, is acting as Chief Executive Officer of SDS in Mr McKerihan's absence.
