FEVA is running its annual music festival this Saturday and it promises to be a great display of gospel-focussed creativity.

FEVA, Sydney's inter-denominational ministry to the Visual Arts, is running the "How Sweet the Sound' (HSTS) Christian music festival to celebrate the fellowship Christians have in Christ and to raise support for the FEVA ministry.

Kicking off at 4:30pm and going til late, the festival will feature nine Christian bands and nine stalls with Christians selling jewellery, clothes and ceramics.

Festival organiser Rowena Lillian says HSTS is a fantastic way to meet other Christians and support FEVA and Christian artists and musicians.

"It can be hard for younger Christians to find a place that isn't full of alcohol or smoking to gather in, so this is a great way for Christians to have a unique experience in an environment without those other pressures," she says.

"It's also an opportunity to support FEVA and new Christian artists and musicians who are producing some really creative work."

FEVA administrator Judith Atkins says its good for the Christian community to support Christians in the arts due to their ability to influence culture.

"The arts are so influential on culture and society as the philosophy of artists often bring about wider social change," she says.

"FEVA exists not just as another student ministry but to influence society with the gospel. We seek to help shape culture with Christianity through our artistic and philosophical influence."

FEVA director Malcolm Williams is excited about this year's HSTS festival.

"Last year we had great acts. This year there's more great acts and they're playing longer. This year we're calling HSTS a festival because there are stalls with food and other things for sale," he says

Active FEVA member and uni student Melanie Boreham says people who come will enjoy the unique and varied aspects of the different bands.

"HSTS is a musical festival like none other that highlights the raw talent of our diverse Australian Christian musicians." she says.

"It's diverse in sound from indie acoustic, pop/rock, alternative rock to jazz and rhythm. There's a sound out there that everyone will enjoy!"

Tickets $25 each. Venue: Ryde Anglican Centre, Church Street, Ryde. For more information visit the FEVA website.
