Christian Mission and the Tsunami in Asia

The following sermon was preached by Archbishop Jensen at the Summer School of the Church Missionary Society (NSW Branch). Because of the occasion, it seeks to consider the challenge of Christian mission in a world that has suffered the tremendous catastrophe of the recent tsunami. The offertory at the service was dedicated to the relief of sufferers and the Archbishops Overseas Aid and Relief Fund is also appealing for financial support.

The Essence of Family

The notion of 'family has received much bad press over recent years, with a lack of general consensus about the definition of family, the role of males and females within relationships and the importance of family structures.

Living water at the water cooler - Gordon Preece

Hows your water-cooler witness going? Recently Archbishop Peter Jensen challenged us to evangelise boldly around the water-cooler at work. A Herald writer slammed the idea as a violation of Australias religious pluralism and the private nature of religion. It showed how wise we need to be in sharing the gospel at work, but it shouldnt intimidate us. Be alert but not alarmed! Christ offers living water and it needs to be shared around the water-cooler, over a coffee, or with a beer, wine or orange juice over lunch or after work.

Christians hit the New Year running

While most of Sydney spent New Years Day recovering from the previous nights celebrations, over 1,500 Christians gathered at Katoomba to hear an American Baptist preacher proclaim the uniqueness of Jesus.
