This weekend members of St Clement's, Mosman will throw their support behind the Bible Society NSW and Opportunity International by holding a charity dinner to raise money for victims of the Boxing Day tsunami.
The fund-raiser is a grass-roots initiative from within the parish, with St Clement's members wondering what response they should have as a church immediately following the tsunami.
"It didn't take us long to decide we should do something specific," explained dinner organiser, John Holt.
"Several members of our congregation have specific involvement with the Bible Society and Opportunity International. We decided to raise money and split it 50-50 between the two organisations."
St Clements are catering for at least 140 people for dinner on Saturday night in the church grounds.
Speakers include John Collins from Opportunity International and Chris Melville from the Bible Society with Simon Hood, Creative Arts director of Logosdor as master of ceremonies.
Opportunity International is establishing trust banks in Indonesia to help rebuild the businesses and infrastructure that were wiped out.
The Bible Society NSW is raising money for tsunami survivors in Sri Lanka to replace lost Bibles.
The Bible Society has already raised over $100,000 since launching their appeal at the end of last year.
Tickets are available by contacting Kerrie at St Clements Mosman on 99681699.
