This booklet of three interactive studies by Linda and Robert Banks on the CS Lewis book Prince Caspian is a well-crafted and timely booklet produced by the Bible Society. Although there are a number of resources on CS Lewis, most Christians may not be aware that the number of people reading CS Lewis books continues to grow. Increasingly people reading his books are post moderns with little or possibly no interest in organised Christianity and with the release of Prince Caspian in cinemas in June this booklet provides a great resource for becoming more attuned to the allegories in Prince Caspian, offering an array of entry points into the world of Narnia.
CS Lewis indicated that he did not set out to draw up a set of basic Christian truths then hammer them out in allegories but that over a long period of time the stories formed in his imagination.

Years ago many were delighted with the stories of Narnia and the Banks’ have provided us with an informative study guide to help explore the parallels in our own world. They encourage a re-look into our world, then to see in parallel the world of Narnia, using Scripture and other writings by Lewis to bring fresh insight and learning. The reader is encouraged to see possible reference points, characters and themes with clear connections so that others then can be graced with this same insight shared/“unearthed”. The strong creative communication skills and research of the Banks’ is apparent in a useful, well-developed study series. They remind us that we too are part of a story, not just any story, but God’s story, and God’s story is the best.

This resource is a deceptively simple but well researched work, clear in articulation and fluent in style so that it is a useful guide, providing in-depth and clear practical application. It could be of value for both individuals as well as groups, and it also speaks across generations in the same way that CS Lewis’ works touches the imagination of all ages.
