The Year 13 program is continuing to expand in its third year, as enrollments have increased by almost 50 per cent on 2007 numbers, growing from 26 to 36 students.

Anglican Youthworks' gap year course aimed at high school leavers is also introducing an "intensive mode' for the first time which is specifically designed for students from rural NSW and the rest of Australia.

The intensive mode involves the students coming to Sydney for three blocks of lectures: two weeks in January, two weeks in April and two weeks in September and October.

The intensive students will also join the continuous students for the Year 13 mission trip to Fiji from June 26 to July 24.

The Year 13 continuous mode " the traditional way the program has been run " commences February 14 and the intensive mode commences January 18.

Year 13 assistant director Trinette Armitt says both continuous and intensive modes cover the same range of lectures and special activities.

"The introduction of the intensive mode means that students from around Australia can spend more time in their home town," she says.

"This year we have intensive students coming from Lord Howe Island and Townsville."

Year 13 will also have an international student enrolled for the first time this year.

"She is a girl from Switzerland who found out about the course over the internet and will join us from 14th February," Miss Armitt says.

Youthworks have also introduced a financial assistance scheme in 2009 in order to help those students who cannot fully cover the cost of their fees.

"Anyone can get in contact with Youthworks if they would like to contribute financially to sponsoring students," Miss Armitt says.

Miss Armitt is currently looking after the Year 13 program until they find a director to replace Jodie McNeill who left the role in December to become Youthworks' director of camping and director of Port Hacking.
