Profile

The Rt Rev Gary Koo was consecrated Bishop on December 20, 2019 and commenced his position in the Western Sydney region (Parramatta) on February 1, 2020.

Prior to his appointment to the Western Region Bishop Koo, gained extensive experience in multi-congregational churches and in second-generation Asian ministry in the west of Sydney.

The son of Malaysian migrants, Bishop Koo was raised an atheist until he decided to follow Jesus while studying medicine at the University of NSW.

After graduating from Moore Theological College, he served as a pastor and church planter for the Chinese Christian Church Sydney before being appointed to St Paul’s Carlingford & North Rocks, where he was rector for seven years.    

He is the chairman of the MTS Mission Minded conference.

Bishop Koo is married to Pearl and they have two children.
