Memorial Service for Hm Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother

At St Andrew’s Cathedral, tomorrow 9th April at 11.30am.

Media are invited to film, photograph and record the service. Doors will open at 10.30am. Media should enter through the North Door (in the Sydney Square, facing the Town Hall).

A Memorial Service to honour the life of HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother will be held in St Andrew’s Cathedral, George Street, Sydney today.

The Most Rev Peter Jensen, Archbishop of Sydney will preach the sermon and the service will be led by the Acting Dean of the Cathedral, Archbishop Harry Goodhew.

The Governor-General, Dr Peter Hollingworth AO will be present at the service and will read the Old Testament lesson. NSW Governor Marie Bashir AC will read the New Testament lesson. Other civic and diplomatic leaders will be present. Roman Catholic Archbishop Dr George Pell and other ecumenical representatives will lead some of the prayers.

The Cathedral Choir will be singing and some of the music, including two of the hymns, will be the same as that used in today’s Funeral Service at Westminster Abbey. Two pipers from Scots College will play.

Members of the public are warmly invited to attend. The Cathedral doors will be opened for the Service at 10.30am.
