Dr Bryan Cowling appointed CEO of Anglican Education Commission

The Archbishop, Dr Peter Jensen announced last night to Synod the appointment of Dr Bryan Cowling as Chief Executive Officer of the newly-reconstituted Anglican Education Commission.

He will be assisted in that role by Dr Grant Maple in the field of advocacy, Mr John Scott in teacher eduction and Mr Ian Keast in teacher recruitment.  That experienced and capable team will greatly advance the cause of education that is Christian in our Diocese.

Dr Cowling has had a long and distinguished career in the field of eduction.  He holds a Doctorate in Education and is a Fellow of the Australian College of Education.

For many years he served in various roles including Director of School Education Policy of the NSW Department of Education.  For the past 7 years he has been Principal of Thomas Hassell Anglican College.  He is a member of St Luke's Church Liverpool, and serves on the Standing Committee of the Diocese.  He is married to Megan,

The Archbishop said: "I am sure that he will make a significant contribution to education in his new role, which commences early in 2007."
