The new Mission Areas have started meeting around Sydney Diocese and they are throwing up some interesting initiatives.

The Inner West Mission Area commissioned some Christian advertising experts to design campaign artwork for this Christmas to be shared by the churches of their region (pictured left).

Dominic Steele from the Village Church, Annandale, who was behind the idea said it made sense to offer the expertise of the members of his Christians in the Media network.

They are now making the artwork more widely available for use by other Sydney Anglican churches.

Alternatively, churches can base their promotional on the designs we have produced for our 2010 Christmas magazine. You can even download our photo titled “boy” below to design your own flyers around the theme of “a gift from God”.

Last year, the Southern Cross team decided we could help local churches by providing a high-spec evangelistic magazine for Christmas.

The result was an A5 mini-mag called Connect to tie in with the Connect09 campaign.

Apart from the copies inserted into Southern Cross, around 40 churches ordered 15,000 additional copies to hand out to Christmas visitors.

Given last year's success, the idea is to again produce a magazine resource aimed at visitors who attend Christmas carols and church services.
Our partners this year include the Centre for Public Christianity.

Inside this year's 16 page edition you will find:

"¢ Christmas-themed article from John Dickson
"¢ Testimonies from Sydneysiders who joined local Anglican churches this year
"¢ Information on CS Lewis to help explain the Christian back-story to the latest Hollywood's latest Narnia blockbuster The Voyage of the Dawntreader.

Unfortunately, we had to close off orders at 10am Thursday morning.

However it is likely there will be over-runs and I am happy to Sydney Anglican parishes on a wait list. First orders will be mailed next week and I will be able to provide confirmation of this second round by Nov 30.
