Daniel 15/2/06
We're now half way through our first Old Testament 1 course that David has been teaching, and the small group discussions are starting to come together. The small groups were quite difficult at first; it is hard (harder than I thought) to hold a discussion when you speak English and everyone else speaks Tamil. Even the English speakers were having trouble with my accent.
But I think we are learning to understand one another now, and so learning together is becoming easier. The men I am leading are very keen students of the Bible. Mostly they are pastors and they have an obvious passion for God's word.
Still there are lots of challenges; the men at times will concentrate on getting all the details straight rather than understanding the main sweep of the Old Testament. And for myself, I need to keep working to listen and understand even when different languages and accents seem to get in the way.
I love being in India, it is a beautiful country, and filled with some of the nicest people I have met. Our accommodation is wonderful and the food is superb. I definitely won't be losing weight on this trip
