Anglican Retirement Villages’ comprehensive vision for Mission is being turned to reality in southern Sydney with the opening of Goodhew Gardens and the Ken Short Christian Centre at Woolooware Shores.

ARV Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ken Barber says the new facility will drive the organisation to develop further services that underpin it vision: "Creating Communities of Christian Care'.

"First rate practical care provided in an environment that is dripping with Christian love," says Mr Barber: "provides a fertile field for the message of God's love in Christ to be sown."

"We hope that at this new village and indeed at all our other villages, Christ is clearly promoted in the care and service we provide and proclaimed at every opportunity."

The village, located at Taren Point near Caringbah comprises some 250 independent living units and a 118 bed residential aged care facility and extensive community facilities,

It provides people in the Sutherland Shire with a second alternative for retirement living in their area along with ARV's Donald Robinson Village at Kirrawee.

The residential aged care facility " Goodhew Gardens " has the capacity to provide both hostel and nursing home level care, along with specialist services for people suffering dementia.

The day began with a thanksgiving service conducted in the Goodhew Gardens chapel -with Bishop Goodhew giving the address..

The official opening service was held later in the day in the Ken Short Christian Centre.

The service was led by the Rev Stefan Bull, newly appointed Rector of Caringbah Anglican Church with whom ARV "partners" for pastoral care and seniors ministry.
