Connect09’s Hallway Challenge will start popping up in churches across the diocese with the delivery of colourful stands to hold resources and remind people to ‘Remember the Essentials’.
The campaign, featured previously on sydneyanglicans.net, is designed to encourage people to add to their church’s wider programme by personally distributing Connect09 resources such as The Essential Jesus to their friends and contacts.
“The idea of the Hallway Challenge” says C09 executive director Andrew Nixon “is that people should keep a pile of books and dvds in their hallways or wherever they put down their keys.
“That way, when they leave home, they’ll be reminded to stop, pray and take a gospel resource to be ready for the people God will send their way that day.”
The resource stands are being given to each church as a visible reminder and for storage of resources so people can easily replenish their supplies on Sundays.
There will be space for the Essential Jesus, the magazine-style Mark’s gospel, as well as CDs and DVDs.
Parishes will need to organise pickup of their stands from one of six locations around the Diocese. They come as a flat pack in a plastic sleeve with instructions for assembly.
Because of limited storage at pickup locations, parishes are being urged to collect their stands by mid-July.
