For the first time women from the southern regions of NSW will have easy access to quality theological training, equipping them to join a growing army of neighbourhood evangelists.
Commencing this Monday, February 7, Mary Andrews College (MAC) will run its popular Bible Course at two new centres " in the Southern Highlands and at Shellharbour.
Marg Mills, whose husband Richard was recently appointed rector of Mittagong Anglican Church, has been employed to run the course at the two new centres.
Since moving to Mittagong late last year, Mrs Mills said she has met many enthusiastic Christian women who could not find appropriate ministry training.
"I have met many lovely Christian women, keen to live out their faith in daily life and to serve Christ. However, many are busy caring for their own children or grandchildren, or with work commitments in the Southern Highlands. Travelling to Sydney for training and input is really difficult."
"It’s great that MAC has an understanding of these women’s situation. The initiative to go to them with courses they can access and apply in life."
MAC courses have been tailor-made for women trying to juggle work, family and church commitments. They are helpfully planned in “bite-sized chunks” so that people can take on a course that will fit into their busy timetable.
Mrs Mills is rejoining the MAC team after a 10 year break, during which time she was raising her children and serving with her husband in three different Sydney churches.
"What I find fulfilling is playing a part in equipping and motivating women to serve Christ, and that’s what I’ll be doing with MAC, so I’m very excited!"
MAC courses are also run in Canberra, Dapto and at six Sydney centres including Campbelltown, Castle Hill and Emu Plains.
