The Reverend Stuart Robinson, acting CEO of Evangelism Ministries in Sydney, is one of six people nominated as the next Bishop of Newcastle.

Other candidates for the position include Bishop Brian Farren from Perth, the head of Anglicare Victoria, Canon Ray Cleary, and the Dean of Adelaide, Steven Ogden.

The 300 member Newcastle synod will meet over March 11 and 12 to elect their new bishop.

The Reverend Arthur Copeman, rector of Kincumber parish in Newcastle Diocese, said he had nominated Mr Robinson because he "believes Stuart would be able to set a vision for the Diocese which incorporates all Anglicans and will lead us forward together."

The Reverend Stuart Robinson is an internationally regarded expert in establishing new churches.

He has founded new congregations in Europe, and was formerly National President of the Anglican Council of Belgium.

The Reverend Stuart Robinson also founded Quakers Hill Anglican Church in western Sydney in 1991 and is currently minister of the newly established Peninsula Anglican Community Church at Pyrmont.

A number of Australian Dioceses, most notably Canberra-Goulburn and Bathurst dioceses, have employed him as a strategic planning consultant.

The Reverend Stuart Robinson is also chair of Church Army Australia, and helped organise the recent "mission-shaped church' conferences.

His regular columns for Southern Cross and Sydneyanglicans.net have helped many churches generate new ideas for "evangelism' and "mission'.

He is also an author of the Mission Action Planning (MAP) kit, launched last year.
