A Rooty Hill woman is letting decades of experience teaching children the Gospel overflow on to the web and into Sydney's Sunday schools.

Sandy Galea, a trained primary school teacher, is the driving force behind Kidswise, a web-based service offering 20 weeks of teaching programs and talks to time-strapped Bible teachers.

Mrs Galea, wife of Rooty Hill minister Ray Galea, has more than twenty years of expertise teaching high school and primary aged children.

The talks were originally written to follow Rooty Hill's Multicultural Bible Ministries' sermon series.

They tackle books like Ruth, Jonah and Colossians using concepts and language that kids can easily understand.

Mrs Galea says the Kidswise site will be welcomed by scripture teachers searching for reliable, tested, Australian resources.

“People have been asking me for particular childrens talks at conferences for quite a number of years. I just wanted to share what I and other people had done at our church,” Mrs Galea said.

Educators gain access to the site by registering and paying an annual subscription fee.

“The book I published had 20 talks, and my computer contained 500. It’s too expensive to publish them all, so the web was the best way to make them available.”

Membership provides access to fully-scripted talks which often include resources like work-sheets, dramas and suggestions for visual aids.

Mrs Galea has also built training aids into the site - Kidswise includes training papers on topics relating to raising Christian children, such as the principles of discipline.

“The aim is to provide training papers which people can pick up and use in their own church, with their own teams whether they have 4 or 5 or 20 members.”

The Kidswise site also includes a comprehensive collection of other products and publications useful to Gospel teachers, including Sandy Galea's book, "Children's Talks " A Practical Guide'.

Resources are aimed at children aged between pre-school and primary.
