One young man is packing for his third Katoomba Youth Leadership Convention where he will receive Bible teaching and leadership training that assists his ministry to toddlers.

Peter Ristevski is looking forward to completing his strand three subjects and delving into systematic theology as he attends KYLC from Monday.

The 23-year-old Christ Church, St George member says attending KYLC has helped him study the Bible over the last three years.

"KYLC has helped me to get a better understanding and grounding in the Bible. It's definitely been a turning point for me," Peter says.

Peter, who attends Christ Church's Sunday evening service, also teaches Sunday school to two and three-year-olds during the morning service. The church meets at James Cook High School in Kogarah in Sydney's south.

Peter began teaching Sunday school at the start of 2006 after attending his second KYLC.

"I find it very rewarding because it gives us the chance to proclaim the word boldly and get out of our comfort zone as Christians," he says.

"We can plant seeds and give kids some knowledge of God whether it's through singing Colin Buchanan songs, story time or drawing."

Peter also enjoys the social aspects of KYLC.

"It's always an excellent encouragement when you find yourself amongst a group of Christians anywhere. It's great being able to spur one another on," Peter says.

KYLC chairman and Engadine Anglican assistant minister, the Rev Raj Gupta says there are only a handful of places available at both weeks of KYLC with almost 1000 people expected to attend at the Katoomba Christian Convention Centre.

"It's a unique opportunity for people to be trained in teaching the Bible," Mr Gupta says.

"We find year after year that people keep benefiting in their ministry so we always have new batches of people coming through to get trained in youth and children's ministry."

This year's KYLC theme is "Strong and Courageous', covering the books of Joshua and Titus. Two separate weeks are being offered: January 15 to 19 and January 22 to 26.

The rector of St Barnabas', Fairfield, Peter Lin and Moore College Deputy Principal Bill Salier will speak during week one. Hunter Bible Church senior pastor Greg Lee, Southern Cross Presbyterian Church senior pastor Steve Cree and Drummoyne Presbyterian Church senior pastor Craig Tucker will give the talks during week two.
